February 04, 2019US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, NOVEMBER 2018
In November 2018, US construction spending increased 0.8 per cent to $1,299.9 billion. This follows a revised increase of 0.1 per cent in October, when construction spending totaled $1,289.7 billion. Year-over-year, spending is 3.4 per cent above November 2017.
Private sector construction increased 1.3 per cent in November to $993.4 billion, and is up 2.3 per cent over November of the previous year. Public sector construction was down 0.9 per cent to $306.5 billion in November, and is up 7.0 per cent year-over-year.
US residential construction was up 3.4 per cent month-to-month to $548.4 billion in November, and up 0.6 per cent over November 2017. Non-residential construction spending was down 1.0 per cent to $751.5 billion in November, and increased 5.5 per cent year-over-year.
In the first eleven months of 2018, US construction spending (unadjusted) is up 4.5 per cent over the same period in 2017. Residential construction grew by 3.8 per cent, while non-residential grew by 4.9 per cent. Private sector construction increased by 3.7 per cent and public sector construction increased 7.0 per cent, compared to the first eleven months of 2017.
