Japan's CPI inflation (year-over-year) fell to 0.3 per cent in December. Energy price growth was 6.1 per cent while food prices fell 1.1 per cent. Underlying inflation remained at 0.3 per cent for all items excluding fresh food and energy.

Year-over-year price growth slowed in Nova Scotia and Japan in December as it picked up slightly in Canada. Japan's inflation remains slower than price growth in most advanced economies.
