January 04, 2019LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - DECEMBER 2018 In Nova Scotia December 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour Force increased 0.3 per cent (1,500) from November 2018 to 494,000 and remains virtually unchanged (200) over December 2017.
- Employment increased 0.3 per cent (1,400) from November 2018 to 459,100 and increased 1.1 per cent (4,900) over December 2017.
- Unemployment increased 0.6 per cent (200) from November 2018 to 34,900 and decreased 11.9 per cent (-4,700) over December 2017.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.1 percentage points from November 2018 to 7.1 per cent.
In Canada December 2018, (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour Force remains virtually unchanged (9,600) from November 2018 at 19,933,500 and increased 0.8 per cent (149,300) over December 2017.
- Employment remains virtually unchanged (9,300) from November 2018 at 18,808,400 and increased 0.9 per cent (163,300) over December 2017.
- Unemployment remains virtually unchanged (300) from November 2018 at 1,125,100 and decreased 1.2 per cent (-14,000) over December 2017.
- Unemployment rate remains unchanged from November 2018 at 5.6 per cent.
In Halifax December 2018, (3 month moving average, seasonally-adjusted):
- Labour Force decreased 0.4 per cent (-1,100) from November 2018 to 250,600 and increased 3.7 per cent (8,900) over December 2017.
- Employment increased 0.1 per cent (200) from November 2018 to 236,400 and increased 5.1 per cent (11,500) over December 2017.
- Unemployment decreased 8.4 per cent (-1,300) from November 2018 to 14,200 and decreased 15.5 per cent (-2,600) over December 2017.
- Unemployment rate decreased 0.5 percentage points from November 2018 to 5.7 per cent.
