In October 2018, US Goods and Services trade deficit widened by $0.9 billion to $55.5 billion. The goods trade deficit widened by $0.9 billion to $78.1 billion and the services trade surplus narrowed by $0.1 billion to $22.6 billion.

On a year-to-date basis, the US trade deficit widened by $51.3 billion to $502.7 billion. The goods trade deficit widened by $65.4 billion to $729.0 billion while the services trade surplus narrowed by $14.1 billion to $226.2 billion.

Monthly exports declined by $0.3 billion to $211.0 billion, as goods exports decreased by $0.4 billion to $141.5 billion and services exports increased $92 million to $69.6 billion.

US imports were up $0.6 billion to $266.5 billion, reflecting an increase in goods imports of $454 million to $219.6 billion and an increase in services imports of $168 million to $47.0 billion.
