CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, OCTOBER 2018

In October 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit widened to $1.2 billion. Exports are down 1.2% to $49.3 billion over Sep 2018 and are up 10.4% over Oct 2017. Imports are down 0.6% to $50.5 billion over Sep 2018 and are up 9.6% over Oct 2017.

In October 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), surplus with the United States narrowed to $3.1 billion.

Year-to-date

In the period Jan-Oct 2018, the year-to-date Canadian merchandise trade deficit reached $17.1 billon. Year-to-date goods Exports were valued at $488.7 billion and year-to-date goods Imports were valued at $505.8 billon.
