NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-SEPTEMBER 2018

Year-to-date

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018, New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales decreased 9.6% over Jan-Sep 2017. The 42,794 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Sep 2018 represent a sales value of $1,536.1 million, down 8.2% over Jan-Sep 2017.

In Canada Jan-Sep 2018, New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales decreased -1.1% over Jan-Sep 2017. The 1,601,522 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Sep 2018 represent a sales value of $66.3 billion, up 3.0% over Jan-Sep 2017.

 

 

Country of Manufacturer

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018,

• North American manufactured new motor vehicles Unit Sales decreased 14.2% (73.8% share) over Jan-Sep 2017.
• North American manufactured new motor vehicles Sales Value decreased 12.0% (76.5% share) over Jan-Sep 2017.

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018,

• for New Motor Vehicles manufactured overseas, Unit Sales increased 6.5% (26.2% share) over Jan-Sep 2017.
• for New Motor Vehicles manufactured overseas, Sales Value increased 6.8% (23.5% share) over Jan-Sep 2017.

 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018,

• passenger car Unit Sales decreased 15.5% (33.7% share) to 14,436 units over Jan-Sep 2017.
• passenger car Sales Value decreased 15.5% (24.9% share) to $382 million over Jan-Sep 2017.

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018,

• truck Unit Sales decreased 6.2% (66.3% share) to 28,358 units over Jan-Sep 2017.
• truck Sales Value decreased 5.5% (75.1% share) to $1,154 million over Jan-Sep 2017.

 

Average Prices

In Nova Scotia Jan-Sep 2018,

• the new motor vehicles average price increased 1.5% to $35,895 over Jan-Sep 2017.
• the passenger car average price decreased 0.1% to $26,478 over Jan-Sep 2017.
• the truck average price increased 0.7% to $40,690 over Jan-Sep 2017.

In Canada Jan-Sep 2018, the new motor vehicles average price increased 4.2% to $41,423 over Jan-Sep 2017.
