NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-AUGUST 2018

Year-to-date

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018, New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales decreased 8.2% over Jan-Aug 2017. The 38,244 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Aug 2018 represent a sales value of $1,372.9 million, down 6.9% over Jan-Aug 2017.

In Canada Jan-Aug 2018, New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales decreased -0.4% over Jan-Aug 2017. The 1,423,697 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Aug 2018 represent a sales value of $58.9 billion, up 3.9% over Jan-Aug 2017.

 

 

Country of Manufacture

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018,

• North American manufactured new motor vehicles Unit Sales decreased 12.6% (74.6% share) over Jan-Aug 2017.
• North American manufactured new motor vehicles Sales Value decreased 10.5% (77.3% share) over Jan-Aug 2017.

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018,

• for New Motor Vehicles manufactured overseas, Unit Sales increased 7.9% (25.4% share) over Jan-Aug 2017.
• for New Motor Vehicles manufactured overseas,  Sales Value increased 7.9% (22.7% share) over Jan-Aug 2017.

 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018,

• passenger car Unit Sales decreased 13.0% (34.4% share) to 13,159 units over Jan-Aug 2017
• passenger car Sales Value decreased 12.9% (25.3% share) to $348 million over Jan-Aug 2017.

               

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018,

• truck Unit Sales decreased 5.5% (65.6% share)  to 25,085 units over Jan-Aug 2017
• truck Sales Value decreased 4.6% (74.7% share) to $1,025 million over Jan-Aug 2017.

 

Average Prices

In Nova Scotia Jan-Aug 2018,

• the new motor vehicles average price increased 1.4% to $35,899 over Jan-Aug 2017.
• the passenger car average price increased 0.01% to $26,440 over Jan-Aug 2017.
• the truck average price increased 0.9% to $40,861 over Jan-Aug 2017.

In Canada Jan-Aug 2018, the new motor vehicles average price increased 4.3% to $41,383 over Jan-Aug 2017.
