October 11, 2018US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, SEPTEMBER 2018 The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.1 per cent in September (seasonally adjusted growth from August). This month, shelter costs were the main contributors to the rise in consumer prices.
Year over year (September 2018 compared to September 2017) consumer prices were up 2.3 per cent (not seasonally adjusted) as energy prices continue to drive inflation. The all items less food and energy index rose 2.2 per cent, year over year.
