JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, AUGUST 2018

Current Account

In Japan August 2018, the current account decreased 56 billion yen over July 2018; resulting in a surplus of 1,429 billion yen.

 

 

In August 2018, Japan reported                                                                                                                         

  • a net international trade (goods and services) deficit of 59 billion yen,
  • a primary income surplus of 1,709 billion yen,
  • and a secondary income (transfers) deficit of 221 billion yen.

 

Trade Balance

In August 2018, Japan 's

  • net international trade (goods and services) decreased 142 billion yen over July 2018; resulting in a deficit of 59 billion yen.
  • goods exports increased 25 billion yen to 6,908 billion yen, goods imports increased 148 billion yen to 6,873 billion yen, net international goods trade decreased 124 billion yen over July 2018; resulting in a surplus of 34 billion yen.
  • net international services trade decreased 18 billion yen over July 2018; resulting in a deficit of 93 billion yen.
