In June 2018,
- the UK seasonally adjusted goods and services balance of trade deficit decreased by £1.28 billion to £1.9 billion over May 2018.
- the main contributor to the decreased deficit was the 4.3% (£1.2 billion) increase in exports of goods to £29.1 billion.
In June 2018, goods exports increased £1.196 billion to £29.1 billion while goods imports increased £53 million to £40.5 billion. The resulting goods deficit narrowed to £11.4 billion.
In June 2018, services exports increased £174 million to £23.3 billion and services imports increased £37 million to £13.8 billion. The resulting services surplus increased slightly to £9.5 billion.
Year-todate Goods TRade by Sector
In June 2018, the Machinery and transportation sector, accounting for 40% of goods exports, increased to £68.8 billion. Chemicals exports, accounting for 17% of exports, increased to £28.7 billion.
