JAPAN CPI INFLATION, JUNE 2018

Japan's CPI inflation (year-over-year) was up slightly to 0.7 per cent in June.  Energy price growth accelerated to 7.3 per cent while food price growth slowed to 0.4 per cent.  Underlying inflation remains muted at 0.2 per cent for all items excluding fresh food and energy.

After a period earlier in 2018 where price growth appeared to be catching up, Japan's CPI is once again slower than price growth in most advanced economies.
