July 16, 2018US RETAIL SALES, JUNE 2018 The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales for June 2018 was a seasonally adjusted $506.8 billion, 0.5 per cent higher than revised results for May 2018 and 6.6 per cent higher than June 2017.
Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales increased 0.3 per cent from May, and increased 6.4 per cent over May 2017. Food service and drinking place receipts grew by 1.5 per cent in June to $60.6 billion.
In the first six months of 2018, US retail sales and food services trade increased 5.2 per cent over Jan-Jun 2017. Retail trade increased 5.3 per cent while food services and drinking places sales grew by 4.6 per cent. Sales were up in all categories except for sporting and recreation stores. The fastest gains were in gas stations (including the effects of rising oil prices) as well as non-store retailers.
