CROWDSOURCED CANNABIS PRICES, Q2 2018

According to Statistics Canada, the Canadian average price of cannabis remained unchanged in the first two quarters of 2018.  Year to date, the average price of cannabis was $6.77 per gram.  Data from StatsCannabis and priceofweed.com indicate that the price of cannabis has been trending down since 2012.

In Nova Scotia, the average price of cannabis was $7.26 per gram through the first six months of the year.  Among the provinces, the average price of cannabis was lowest in Quebec ($5.83 per gram) and highest in Newfoundland and Labrador ($7.77 per gram).

Statistics Canada collects price and use data on cannabis through a crowdsourcing application, StatsCannabis.  As the data sample is self-selected, it is subject to statistical bias and not necessarily representative of the larger population.  Further, the sample size fell rapidly from January through May which also subjects the data to statistical bias.
