JAPAN CPI INFLATION, APRIL 2018

Japan's CPI inflation continues to decelerate, slowing to 0.6 per cent in April (vs Apr-17).  This is the second month in which price growth for all items has slowed.  Both energy (5.3 per cent) and food (0.7 per cent) reported slower price growth, while underlying inflation remains muted at 0.3 per cent for all items excluding fresh food and energy.

Compared with price growth in Canada and Nova Scotia, Japan's CPI has slowed in recent months while Canadian inflation has accelerated.
