NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-MARCH 2018

 

In Jan-Mar 2018, Nova Scotia New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales decreased 4.3% over Jan-Mar 2017. The 10,305 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Mar 2018 represent a value of $370.7 million, down 5.6% over Jan-Mar 2017.

                                          

 In Jan-Mar 2018, Canada New Motor Vehicles Unit Sales increased 2.2% over Jan-Mar 2017. The 438,463 new motor vehicles sold in Jan-Mar 2018 represent a value of $18.3 billion, up 6.9% over Jan-Mar 2017.

In Nova Scotia Jan-Mar 2018, North American manufactured new motor vehicles Sales Value decreased 10.2% (79.2% share) over Jan-Mar 2017. New Motor Vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 17.1% (20.8% share) over Jan-Mar 2017.




In Jan-Feb 2018, North American manufactured new motor vehicles Unit Sales decreased 9.1% (77.4% share) over Jan-Mar 2017. In Nova Scotia Jan-Mar 2018, New Motor Vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 17.0% (22.6% share) over Jan-Mar 2017.

Average Prices

In Jan-Mar 2018, the average unit price in Canada increased 4.6% to $41,687 over Jan-Mar 2017.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price decreased 1.4% to $35,974 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In Jan-Mar 2018, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 5.3 per cent over Jan-Mar 2017 to 3,517 units. Jan-Mar 2018 passenger car dollar sales increased 9.2 per cent over Jan-Mar 2017 to $92.7 million.

In Jan-Mar 2018, Nova Scotian truck unit sales decreased 8.6 per cent over Jan-Mar 2017 to 6,788 units. Jan-Mar 2018 truck dollar sales decreased 9.7 per cent over Jan-Mar 2017 to $278.0 million.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 75.0%, and the unit sales volume stands at 65.9%

In Nova Scotia Jan-Mar 2018 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,957 and increased for cars to $26,357 over Jan-Mar 2017.
