May 10, 2018US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, APRIL 2018 The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.2 per cent in April from March, on a seasonally adjusted basis. This month, the energy index rose 1.4 per cent as gasoline prices rebounded (+3.0 per cent) along with fuel oil prices (+2.7 per cent). Food prices were up 0.3 per cent, and shelter rose 0.3 per cent month to month.
Year over year (April 2018 compared to April 2017) consumer prices were up 2.5 per cent (not seasonally adjusted) as food prices were up 1.4 per cent and energy prices were up 7.9 per cent. The all items less food and energy index rose 2.1 per cent, year over year.
