May 03, 2018US PRODUCTIVITY 1ST QUARTER 2018 Nonfarm business sector labour productivity in the US increased 0.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2018, with output increasing 2.8 per cent and hours worked increasing 2.1 per cent. Unit labour costs increased 2.7 per cent reflecting the 0.7 per cent increase in productivity and hourly compensation rising 3.4 per cent.
Manufacturing sector labour productivity increased 0.5 per cent in Q1 with output increasing 3.3 per cent and hours worked increasing 2.8 per cent. Productivity was up 1.3 per cent for durable goods and increased by 0.6 per cent in nondurable manufacturing. Unit labour costs increased 2.7 per cent in manufacturing.
