Japan's CPI inflation slowed to 1.1 per cent in March (vs Mar-17) after accelerating for the previous four months. There was slower growth in food prices (1.9 per cent), energy prices (5.7 per cent) as well as in underlying inflation excluding fresh food and energy (0.4 per cent).
Japanese inflation has been persistently below inflation reported in Canada and Nova Scotia for much of the last two years, but all have reported accelerating price growth since the middle of 2017.
