April 05, 2018EU AND EURO AREA RETAIL TRADE, FEBRUARY 2018 
Retail sales in the European Union were up 0.1 per cent in February (seasonally adjusted index of turnover value) compared with January. For the Euro Area, retail sales were unchanged in February.
Year-to-date
On a year-to-date basis comparing retail sales in January-February 2018 with the same months of 2017, EU retail sales values (seasonally and calendar adjusted - not deflated) are up 3.2 per cent. Euro Area retail sales are up 2.4 per cent year-over-year.
By member state, the strongest growth is reported among Eastern European countries (except Slovenia) while growth was slower in the larger economies of the Euro Area along with Sweden and Denmark.

By retail sector, the strongest growth (Jan-Feb18 vs Jan-Feb17) is found in mail order and internet sales, followed by pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetics retailers.
