In February 2018, Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) posted a $2.7 billion deficit.
Exports are up 0.4% over January 2018 to $45.9 billion, and increased 1.5 percent over February 2017. Imports increased by 1.9 per cent from January 2018 to $48.6 billion and increased 3.5% over February 2017.
In February 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade deficit with the United States (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) decreased to $2.6 billion over January 2018.
Year-to-date
In Canada Jan-Feb 2018, the total merchandise trade deficit reached $4.6 billion. Year to date goods exports were valued at $91.7 billion and year-to-date goods imports were valued at $96.3 billion.
