March 13, 2018US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, FEBRUARY 2018 The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.2 per cent in February from January, on a seasonally adjusted basis. In February, the energy index increased 0.1 per cent, reflecting a decline in fuel oil prices (-3.6 per cent) and a rise in the price of piped gas service (+4.7 per cent). Food prices remained unchanged this month, while shelter rose 0.2 per cent month to month.
Year over year (February 2018 compared to February 2017) consumer prices were up 2.2 per cent (not seasonally adjusted) as food prices were up 1.4 per cent and energy prices were up 7.7 per cent. The all items less food and energy index rose 1.8 per cent, year over year.
