NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, ANNUAL 2017

In 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 8.3% over 2016. The 58,951 new vehicles sold in 2017 represented a value of $2.1 billion, up 13.0% compared with motor vehicle sales values in 2016.

In 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 4.7 per cent over  2016 to 2,076,970 units.  Dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 9.8 per cent over 2016 to $83.6 billion.

In Nova Scotia 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  increased 15.6% (80.6% share) over 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 3.0% (19.4% share) over 2016.




In Nova Scotia 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 10.2% (78.7% share) over  2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 1.7% (21.3% share) over  2016.

Average Prices - Annual

In 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 4.9% to $40,254 over 2016.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 4.3% to $35,618 over last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks - Annual

In 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 2.6 per cent over  2016 to 20,784 units.  Passenger car dollar sales increased 6.0 per cent over 2016 to $553.7 million.

In 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 11.6 per cent over  2016 to 38,167 units.  Truck dollar sales increased 15.7 per cent over 2016 to $1.546 billion.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 73.6%, and the unit sales volume stands at 64.7%

 



In Nova Scotia 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,506 and increased for cars to $26,642 over  2016.
