EU AND EURO AREA GDP, Q4 2017 [PRELIMINARY FLASH]

Real GDP rose by 2.3 per cent (seasonally adjusted annualized rate) in the euro area (EA19) and 2.3 per cent in the European Union (EU28) during the fourth quarter of 2017, compared with the previous quarter.  Last quarter, EA19 GDP was up 2.9 per cent and EU28 GDP grew 2.7 per cent on an annualized basis. Comparing Q4 2017 with Q4 2016, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 2.7 per cent and 2.6 per cent the euro area the EU28 respectively.

The preliminary flash estimates for GDP growth in 2017 are 2.5 per cent in both the EA19 and EU28.
