December 14, 2017NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-OCTOBER 2017 In January-October 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 10.6% over Jan-Oct 2016. The 51,758 new vehicles sold in January-October represented a value of $1.8 billion, up 14.9% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.
In January-October 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.6 per cent over Jan-Oct 2016 to 1,787,357 units. January-October dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.8 per cent over January-October 2016 to $71.3 billion.
In Nova Scotia January-October 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value increased 18.3% (80.8% share) over Jan-Oct 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 2.5% (19.2% share) over Jan-Oct 2016.
In Nova Scotia January-October 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 13.2% (79.1% share) over Jan-Oct 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 1.7% (20.9% share) over Jan-Oct 2016.
Average Prices
In January-October 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 4.9% to $39,899 over Jan-Oct 2016. In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 4.0% to $35,343 over the same period last year.
Passenger Cars and Trucks
In January-October 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 5.1 per cent over Jan-Oct 2016 to 18,589 units. January-October passenger car dollar sales increased 8.0 per cent over January-October 2016 to $492 million.
In January-October 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 13.9 per cent over Jan-Oct 2016 to 33,169 units. January-October truck dollar sales increased 17.7 per cent over January-October 2016 to $1.3 billion.
The truck share of the sales value stands at 73.1%, and the unit sales volume stands at 64.1%
In Nova Scotia January-October 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,314 and increased for cars to $26,472 over Jan-Oct 2016.
