November 30, 2017CANADA'S BALANCE OF INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS 2017Q3 3rd QUARTER
In Canada 3rd Quarter 2017 the seasonally adjusted current account deficit increased $3.8 billion over the 2nd quarter 2017 to $19.3 billion.
In the 3rd quarter 2017:
- exports (receipts) of goods and services decreased $11.1 billion to $159.1 billion, while imports (payments) of goods and services decreased $7.5 billion to $174.2 billion. The resulting international goods and services trade deficit increased $3.6 billion to $15.1 billion.
- primary income receipts increased $216 million to $27.9 billion, while payments increased $94 million to $31.3 billion. The resulting international primary income deficit decreased $121 million to $3.4 billion.
- secondary income receipts increased $15 million to $3.2 billion, while payments increased $247 million to $4.0 billion. The resulting international transfers deficit increased $233 million to $869 million.
- with trade deficit increasing ($3.6 bil); primary income deficit decreasing ($121 mil); and secondary income deficit increasing ($233 mil), the current account deficit increased by $3.8 billion to $19.3 billion.
