NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-AUGUST 2017

In January-August 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 10.9% over Jan-Aug 2016. The 41,654 new vehicles sold in January-August represented a value of $1.47 billion, up 16.1% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-August 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.3 per cent over Jan-Aug 2016 to 1,428,825 units. January-August dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.5 per cent over January-August 2016 to $56.7 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-August 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  increased 20.6% (82.2% share) over Jan-Aug 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 1.0% (17.8% share) over Jan-Aug 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-August 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 14.8% (80.6% share) over Jan-Aug 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries decreased 2.8% (19.4% share) over Jan-Aug 2016.

Average Prices

In January-August 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 5.0% to $39,685 over Jan-Aug 2016.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 4.7% to $35,401 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-August 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 6.4 per cent over Jan-Aug 2016 to 15,117 units. January-August passenger car dollar sales increased 10.2 per cent over January-August 2016 to $400 million.

In January-August 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 13.6 per cent over Jan-Aug 2016 to 26,537 units. January-August truck dollar sales increased 18.5 per cent over January-August 2017 to $1.075 billion.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 72.9%, and the unit sales volume stands at 63.7%

 



In Nova Scotia January-August 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,501 and increased for cars to $26,449 over Jan-Aug 2016.
