October 13, 2017US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, SEPTEMBER 2017 The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.5 per cent in September from August, on a seasonally adjusted basis. In September, the energy index rose 6.1 per cent, influenced by notable increase in gasoline and fuel oil prices (13.1% and 8.2%, respectively). Food prices rose 0.1 per cent and shelter rose 0.3 per cent month to month.
Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 2.2 per cent before seasonal adjustment, up from 1.9 per cent year over year, last month.
The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.1 per cent in September. For the 12-months ending in September, the index for all items less food and energy rose 1.7 per cent, the energy index increased 10.1 per cent, and the food index was up 1.2 per cent.
