October 05, 2017CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE AUGUST 2017 
In August 2017, Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) posted a $3.4 billion deficit. Exports fell by 1.0 per cent from July 2017 to $43.6 billion, but remain 0.2 per cent below levels observed in August 2016. Canada's imports remained unchanged from July to August 2017 at $47.0 billion. Imports are 3.0 per cent above August 2016 levels.
Year-to-date
In Canada Jan-August 2017, the total merchandise trade deficit reached $14.2 billion. Year to date goods exports were valued at $369.0 billion and year to date goods imports were valued at $383.2 billion.
