Text of Order:

        Whereas by Order in Council 2016-208 dated August 30, 2016, Governor in Council on the Report and Recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated August 25, 2016, and pursuant to Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 71 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Inquiries Act, ordered that a commission of inquiry be established jointly with the Government of Canada and the Governments of all provinces and territories, five persons be appointed as commissioners, to conduct the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and that the commission’s final report be delivered to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Nova Scotia on November 1, 2018;

        And Whereas Commissioner Marilyn Poitras resigned on July 15, 2017;

        And Whereas it is desirable to extend the time period for delivery of the commission’s final report to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to April 30, 2019;

        Now Therefore, Governor in Council on the recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated December 11, 2018, and pursuant to Sections 2 and 3 of  Chapter 372 of the Revised Statutes of the Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Inquiries Act, is pleased to, effective December 18, 2018, amend Order in Council 2016-208 dated August 30, 2016, establishing a commission of inquiry jointly with the Government of Canada and the Governments of all provinces and territories by:

        (a)        removing “Marilyn Poitras” from paragraph (2); and

        (b)        replacing “November 1, 2018” with “April 30, 2019” in paragraph (5).
