Storm preparedness
The Department of Community Services' Emergency Social Services (ESS) section is part of a province-wide emergency preparedness network that plans for the unexpected, like major storms. That emergency network is organized and controlled under the Emergency Management Office Nova Scotia (EMO NS). Also, the Canadian Red Cross assists Community Services with province-wide planning, exercising and response in all areas of Emergency Social Services.
