NS LIFEGUARD SERVICE--NSLS ANNUAL BEACH LIFEGUARD COMPETITION

The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service hosted its 25th Annual Beach
Lifeguard Competition at Rissers Beach on Aug. 27. Twenty-four
teams of two participated in both technical and physical
lifeguard events.
The team of Jason Cross and P.J. Cowan captured the overall
championship title by accumulating the most points in all events
combined. Jason Cross of Halifax won the male ironguard title,
and Nancy Witty of Wolfville took the female ironguard title.

First Aid/Resuscitation Marc Tremblay and Dan McKenzie, Halifax
After the competition, participants attended an awards banquet
during which Bruce Holland, Minister responsible for Sport and
Recreation, congratulated the lifeguard service on an excellent
season.
The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service is a joint project of the Nova
Scotia Sport and Recreation Commission and the Canadian Red
Cross, Nova Scotia Region.
