PREMIER--PREMIER'S SENIOR OFFICE STAFF ANNOUNCED
----------------------------------------------------------------
Nova Scotia Premier Russell MacLellan today announced his senior
office staff appointments.

Susan Trenholm of Boularderie has been appointed chief of staff.
Other senior positions include Sandy McNabb of Sydney as
principal assistant to the premier and Cathy Kalil of Ottawa as
executive secretary.

The senior advisers on staff are Jeanne Wilson Clark of Hubbards,
Dorothy MacDonald of Dartmouth and Kim Jardine of Big Bras d'Or.

The premier also asked Peter MacLellan of Halifax to continue for
the time being as acting communications director.

Marie Cox of Halifax will be the premier's scheduling assistant.
The receptionist for the Premier's Office will be Julie Quigley
of Porter's Lake.

"I'm delighted that these talented individuals have agreed to
serve on my staff," Premier MacLellan said. "They have deep
experience in all these positions and are proven performers in
their respective areas of responsibility."

The premier also pointed to the extensive knowledge of the
federal scene a number of his key appointments brings to their
jobs, adding that this experience would be invaluable in building
the strong federal-provincial ties that are a key part of his
declared mandate.

"The lines of communication between this administration and the
present Ottawa government have to be knowledgeable and
experienced if we are to effectively speak for the interests of
Nova Scotians on major bilateral funding and policy issues,"
Premier MacLellan contended.
