BUSINESS/CONSUMER SERVICES--TWO LOCATIONS MEAN BETTER SERVICE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As of Aug. 5, two new Consumer and Commercial Relations sites
will be open for business in the Halifax area.

The current offices, at Alderney Gate and 1496 Bedford Highway,
will close at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1. Consumer and Commercial
Relations services will be available at Access Nova Scotia
centres in Dartmouth at the Atlantic Superstore Mall on Portland
Street beginning July 28 and in Halifax at the West End Mall on
Mumford Road starting Aug. 5.

"Opening two new multi-service centres in metro is part of our
plan to make government services more accessible to all Nova
Scotians," said Wayne Gaudet, Minister of Business and Consumer
Services.

"Not only are Consumer and Commercial Relations services more
accessible, so are Registry of Motor Vehicles services and
information on government programs. They will all be available at
our Access Nova Scotia sites."

Consumer and Commercial Relations provides services in
residential tenancies and consumer complaints, debtor assistance
programs and certain types of sales licences. These services are
available in seven Nova Scotia communities.

"The new sites provide sufficient space for all our counselling
and mediation needs and will make it much easier for tenants
and/or landlords to visit residential tenancies officers," said
Mr. Gaudet.

Another Access Nova Scotia centre will open in Kentville this
fall, with others to open across the province over the next three
to five years.
