HEALTH--NEW FACILITY TO REPLACE TRURO'S GLENVIEW LODGE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Health Minister Jim Smith has agreed in principle to proceed with
the construction of a 48-bed facility to replace Glenview Lodge,
a private nursing home in Truro.

The cost of the construction for the 48-bed facility will be
about $3.5 million. In anticipation of replacement, Glenview
Lodge has already acquired a serviced lot for a new facility and
has done preliminary work on design and financial plans.

Mr. Charlie Dale, the owner of Glenview Lodge, was pleased with
the announcement, particularly for residents and staff. "I look
forward to working with the Department of Health and to working
toward the opening of a new facility next spring," said Mr. Dale.

The physical structure at Glenview has reached a point where
continued operation will increasingly pose program standard and
safety risks for both residents and staff. Replacement of the
facility is a high priority for the Department of Health.
Detailed planning for the replacement facility will begin
immediately.
