EDUCATION/CULTURE--FIRST COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPOINTED

The Nova Scotia Community College board of governors has an
appointed advisory committee for the Cumberland Campus. It is the
first of the newly established advisory committees which will
work with the NSCC campuses to ensure they are meeting the needs
of the communities and regions they serve.

The following Cumberland residents were named to the first
advisory committee:

Carol Thompson, Carole Beaton, Chris Saveur, Jim Mitchell, Brian
Fuller, Alfred Legere, Garnet Parker, Ashley Brown, Karen
Dickinson, Sandra Mackey, Coleen Davidson, Fred Sinclair and
Donna Morse. Karen Dickinson has been appointed committee chair,
and Joe Black, principal of the NSCC-Cumberland Campus will serve
as a resource person.

The Cumberland committee will meet on a monthly basis, advising
the campus on training needs relevant to the region, and
assisting with the identification of viable program offerings.
The committee will also serve as a liaison between NSCC and the
community, promoting the college and its campuses as a community
and public service resource for the region.
