AGRICULTURE/MARKETING--4-H SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Agriculture and Marketing Minister Guy Brown, today announced the
1996 recipients of four Department of Agriculture and Marketing
scholarships to Nova Scotia 4-H members.

The four $1000 scholarships go to: Misty King, Yarmouth County;
Tanya Morse, Kings County; Linda Rudderham, Cumberland County;
and Laura Mountain, Pictou County.

Misty King is entering her first year at the Nova Scotia
Agricultural College where she is enrolled in the bachelor of
science in agriculture degree program. She is a nine-year member
of the Maple Leaf 4-H Club.

Tanya Morse is also in her first year of the bachelor of science
in agriculture program at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
She is a nine-year member of the Harmony-Nicholasville 4-H Club.

Linda Rudderham is attending the University of Prince Edward
Island and is a three-year member of the Double-D 4-H Club.

Laura Mountain is attending Saint Mary's University where she is
enrolled in a degree program. She is a nine-year member of the
Hopewell 4-H Club.

The scholarships were presented by Mr. Brown at a banquet hosted
for 4-H members and their families at the Nova Scotia
Agricultural College.

The Nova Scotia 4-H Council Scholarship of $1000 was also
presented at the banquet. The 1996 recipient for this scholarship
was John Gillespie from Pictou County.

Established in 1982 to commemorate 60 years of 4-H in Nova
Scotia, the scholarships are awarded based on a completed
application, academic achievements and an essay on "The
Importance of Nova Scotia Agriculture".
