PREMIER--ITINERARY-PRESIDENTIAL VISIT

Premier John Savage today announced the itinerary for the Visit
to Canada of Her Excellency Vigdis Finnbogadottir, President of
the Republic of Iceland, May 14-16.

While in Nova Scotia, President Finnbogadottir will receive an
honorary doctorate of civil law from Saint Mary's University.
Other highlights of the visit include the inaugural flight of
Icelandair into Halifax and a tour of the Fisheries Museum of the
Atlantic, Lunenburg.

Following is the visit itinerary:

Tuesday, May 14, 1996

  HALIFAX INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  6:05 P.M.  Her Excellency arrives at the Halifax International
             Airport, Gate 24, on board Icelandair Flight 607
             from Iceland.

  6:15 P.M.  Her Excellency and Premier Savage attend a reception
             and ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Icelandair,
             marking the inaugural flight of Icelandair. 

  6:55 P.M.  Her Excellency departs the Halifax International
             Airport.


Wednesday, May 15, 1996

  GOVERNMENT HOUSE

  8:05 A.M.  Her Excellency arrives at Government House for an
             official call on:

             Their Honours
             The Honourable John James Kinley,
             C.D., S.M., D.Eng., P.Eng., FEIC
             Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia
             and Mrs. Grace Kinley

  8:35 A.M.  Her Excellency departs Government House for Province
             House, 1726 Hollis Street.


  PROVINCE HOUSE

  8:40 A.M.  Her Excellency arrives at Province House for an
             official call on:

             The Honourable John Savage
             Premier of Nova Scotia     

  9:02 A.M.  Her Excellency departs Province House 


  FISHERIES MUSEUM OF THE ATLANTIC, LUNENBURG

  2:35 P.M.  Her Excellency visits the Fisheries Museum of the
             Atlantic.

             Mayor Mawhinney invites Her Excellency to sign the 
             Town of Lunenburg Guest Book.

  3:10 P.M.  Her Excellency tours the Bluenose Room and the main 
             floor aquarium.

  3:15 P.M.  Her Excellency, escorted by Mr. Wilfred P. Moore, 
             Chairman, Bluenose II Preservation Trust, and
             Bluenose II Captain Wayne Walters, tour the
             Bluenose II.

  3:50 P.M.  Her Excellency departs the Fisheries Museum of the 
             Atlantic for Halifax.


  WORLD TRADE AND CONVENTION CENTRE

  6:25 P.M.  Her Excellency arrives at the World Trade and
             Convention Centre to receive an honorary doctorate
             of civil law.

  7:00 P.M.  Processional.

             Convocation Address by Her Excellency.

  9:30 P.M.  Her Excellency departs the World Trade and
             Convention Centre (front entrance).


Thursday, May 16, 1996

  TOUR OF HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY

  10:00 A.M.  Her Excellency tours Halifax Regional Municipality
              (location to be announced).


  ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA YACHT SQUADRON

  12:00 Noon  Her Excellency arrives at the Royal Nova Scotia 
               Yacht Squadron for a private luncheon hosted by
               the Halifax Regional Municipality.


  MARITIME MUSEUM OF THE ATLANTIC

  6:25 P.M.  Her Excellency arrives at the Maritime Museum of the
             Atlantic for a reception hosted by:

             Icelandair and the Nova Scotia Marketing Agency

  7:30 P.M.  Her Excellency departs the Maritime Museum of the
             Atlantic.


  HALIFAX INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

  11:00 P.M.  Her Excellency departs Halifax for Iceland.
