Tobeatic Wildlife Management Area Designation

made under Section 113 of the
Wildlife Act
R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 504
O.I.C. 68-53 (January 29, 1968), N.S. Reg. 30/68

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 19th day of January, A.D. 1968, pursuant to Section 154 of the Lands and Forests Act, is pleased to

(a) declare that the area in the Counties of Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby described in the Schedule attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation shall no longer be a Game Sanctuary and to revoke all regulations made for the control of the Tobeatic Game Sanctuary and the protection of wildlife therein;

(b) declare that the area of`the Province described in the Schedule attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation be a Wildlife Management Area, to be known as the Tobeatic Wildlife Management Area;

(c) make regulations in the form set out in the report and recommendation for the control of the Wildlife Management Area and the management of wildlife therein.

Schedule "A"

Description of Wildlife Management Area

All that area formerly known as the Tobeatic Game Sanctuary located in the Counties of Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby being more particularly bounded and described as follows:

Starting at that point where the Mersey Paper Company’s road crosses the Shelburne River at Pollards Falls and following said road on its westerly side to where said road crosses the canal joining East Jordan and Silver Lakes;

Thence by the southerly side of the canal to East Jordan Lake;

Thence southerly and northerly along the shore of East Jordan Lake and Great Jordan Lake to the inlet of the Jordan River;

Thence following the southern shore of Jordan River to Martin’s Lake;

Thence following the western shore of Martin’s Lake to the outlet of Long Lake Brook;

Thence along the western shore of Long Lake Brook to Long Lake;

Thence along the western shore of Long Lake to the carry between Long Lake and Second Branch Lake on the western branch of Jordan River;

Thence along said carry to Second Branch Lake;

Thence along the eastern shore of Second Branch Lake to the inlet of the West branch of the Jordan River;

Thence along the western shore of the west branch of the Jordan River to the inlet of said River from Spectacle Lake;

Thence westerly, southerly and northerly along the western shore of Spectacle Lake to the outlet of Boot Lake Brook;

Thence along the western shore of Boot Lake Brook to the outlet of Joe Frogger Pond;

Thence along the southerly and westerly shore of said outlet and Joe Frogger Pond to the carry between Joe Frogger Pond and Roseway Lake;

Thence along the southern shore of Roseway Lake to the main Roseway River;

Thence along the eastern shore of said River to Mink Lake;

Thence along the western and southern shore of Mink Lake, Scoodiack Lake and Moose Lake to the main Roseway River;

Thence along the northern shore of the main Roseway River to the inlet of the County Bog Brook (or as it is sometimes called the West Branch of the Roseway);

Thence by the westerly side of the County Bog Brook until it intersects the present sanctuary line;

Thence by said present sanctuary line to Buckshot Lake;

Thence following the western and northern shore of said Lake to the main Shelburne River;

Thence following the western and northern shore of the main Shelburne River to the place of beginning.
