Lake George Provincial Park Designation

made under Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 97-22 (January 14, 1997), N.S. Reg. 4/97

as amended to O.I.C. 2004-39 (January 20, 2004, effective January 14, 1997), N.S. Reg. 12/2004


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Natural Resources dated December 3, 1996, pursuant to Section 8 of Chapter 367 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Provincial Parks Act, is pleased to

 

                (a)    designate all that area of land situate at Lake George, Kings County, owned by Her Majesty the Queen in right of the Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, the said area of land being described in Schedule “A” and shown outlined in bold line on a copy of Provincial Crown Lands Record Centre Plan No. E-15-53 marked Schedule “B”, both Schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation; and

 

                (b)    declare that the Park shall be known by the name of “Lake George Provincial Park”.



Schedule “A”


All those certain lots, pieces, or parcels of land situate, lying, and being at Lake George in the County of Kings, Province of Nova Scotia, shown as Parcel A and B on a compiled plan, Lake George Provincial Park (Field Plot P-067/96-2) and filed in the Provincial Crown Lands Records Centre, Halifax, under C.L.R. No. E-15-53, the said parcels being more particularly described as follows:


Parcel A

Beginning at a survey marker (S.M.) K758 situate on the northerly boundary of the North River Road (Authority No. 734) and the westerly boundary of the herein described Parcel A.


Thence N 09° 25' 36" W, a distance of 15.894 metres to S.M. K759;


Thence continuing N 09° 25' 36" W, a distance of 0.75 metres more or less to the ordinary high water mark of Lake George;


Thence continuing N 09° 25ˈ 36" W, a distance of 30.48 metres, to a point;


Thence northeasterly, 30.48 metres perpendicularly distant from and parallel to the ordinary high water mark of Lake George, a distance of 130 metres more or less, to a point;


Thence S 57° 51̍ 23" E, a distance of 31 metres more or less, to the ordinary high water mark of Lake George;


Thence S 57° 51' 23" E, a distance of 0.70 metres to S.M. K 760;


Thence continuing S 57° 51' 23" E, a distance of 34.617 metres to S.M. K764, said S.M. K764 being on the southeasterly boundary of the old highway;


Thence northeasterly along a curve to the left on the old highway boundary having a radius of 262.883 metres, an arc distance of 16.030 metres to a point, said point being N 33° 53' 26" E, a distance of 16.027 metres from the last mentioned S.M. K764;


Thence N 32° 08' 37" E, a distance of 5.480 to S.M. K763;


Thence S 57° 51' 23" E, a distance of 14.818 metres to S.M. K761;


Thence N 32° 08' 37" E, a distance of 25.000 metres to S.M. K754, said S.M. K754 being on the southwesterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Terry Scotney and Anne Scotney;


Thence along the southwesterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Terry Scotney and Anne Scotney, S 57° 51' 23" E, a distance of 101.910 metres to S.M. K498;


Thence S 32° 06' 38" W, a distance of 6.096 metres to S.M. K 716, said S.M. K716 being on a curve of the northerly boundary of the North River Road;


Thence along a curve to the right having a radius of 159.942 metres an arc distance of 73.963 metres to S.M. K755, said S.M. K755 being S 70° 20' 21" W, a distance of 73.305 from the last mentioned S.M. K716;


Thence continuing along the northerly boundary of the North River Road S 83° 35' 13" W, a distance of 121.569 metres to S.M. K756;


Thence continuing along the northerly boundary of the North River Road S 83° 35' 13" W, a distance of 63.288 metres to S.M. K757, said S.M. K757 being a curve to the left having a radius of 461.574 metres;


Thence following along a curve to the left having a radius of 461.574 metres an arc distance of 24.225 metres to S.M. K758, said S.M. K758 being S 82° 05' 00" W, a distance of 24.222 metres from the last mentioned S.M. K757, said S.M. K758 also being the point of beginning.


The above described parcel of land (Parcel A) contains an area of 1.841 hectares more or less.

Parcel B

Beginning at survey marker (S.M.) K495 situate on the southerly boundary of the North River Road (Authority No. 734) and the easterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Charles H. Harris, said S.M. K495 also being S 83° 14' 11" E, a distance of 480.505 metres from Nova Scotia Coordinate Monument No. 7614 having coordinate values (referenced to the Nova Scotia 3° Modified Transverse Mercator Projection zone 5 central meridian at 64° 30' west longitude) of 4, 976, 063.649 metres in northings and 5, 484, 370.678 metres in eastings;


Thence along a curve to the left having a radius of 262.883 metres an arc distance of 64.448 metres to a point, said point being N 76° 03' 51" E, a distance of 64.287 metres from the last mentioned S.M. K495;


Thence continuing along the southerly boundary the North River Road (Authority No. 734), N 83° 35' 13" E, a distance of 174.674 metres to a point on a curve to the left having a radius of 180.059 metres;


Thence along a curve to the left having a radius of 180.059 metres an arc distance of 47.465 metres to S.M. K717, said S.M. K717 being on the southerly boundary of the North River Road (Authority No. 734) and the westerly boundary of lands now or formerly of Leslie Forbes Flannagan;


Thence along the westerly boundary of lands now or formerly of Leslie Forbes Flannagan S 32° 06' 38" W, a distance of 76.482 metres to S.M. K497;


Thence continuing along the westerly boundary of lands now or formerly of Leslie Forbes Flannagan S 60° 55' 05" W, a distance of 213.449 metres to S.M. K496;


Thence along the easterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Leslie Forbes Flannagan N 24° 08' 02" W, a distance of 133.812 to S.M. K495, said S.M. K495 also being the point of beginning.


The above described parcel of land (Parcel B) contains an area of 2.247 hectares more or less.


Total area of Parcel A and Parcel B being 4.088 hectares more or less.
