Half Island Cove Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 79-564 (May 15, 1979), N.S. Reg. 73/79


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 8th day of May, A.D., 1979, and pursuant to the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, Chapter 6, Section 5(1), is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Half Island Cove Beach, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-11-30 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being “Lands Lying Landward From The Mean High Watermark of Half Island Cove Beach”, as shown on a plan of survey number P-015/79 prepared by Province of Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests Surveys Division, dated February 20, 1979, being in the Community of Half Island Cove, County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia, being more particularly described as follows:


Commencing at Nova Scotia Co-ordinate Monument Number 10654;


Thence N 46° 04' 33" W, 4,470.45 feet to an iron pin, said pin hereinafter referred to as the point of beginning;


Thence N 48° 04' 00" E, 35 feet more or less to the mean high watermark of Half Island Cove;


Thence southeasterly following the mean high watermark of Half Island Cove 2650 feet more or less to a point;


Thence S 25° 36' 00" E, 25 feet more or less to an iron pin, said pin being S 61° 49' 09" E, 2,506.94 feet from the previous mentioned iron pin;


Thence continuing S 25° 36' 00" E, 55 feet more or less to a point;


Thence northwesterly parallel to and 80 feet from the mean high watermark of the waters of Half Island Cove 2700 feet more or less to a point;


Thence N 48° 04' 00" E, 45 feet more or less to the point of beginning.


All bearings are based on the Nova Scotia 3° modified transverse mercator projection, zone 4, central meridian 61° 30' west longitude.
