Cooks Cove Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 78-853 (July 25, 1978), N.S. Reg. 161/78


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 18th day of July, A.D., 1978, and pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-9-57 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.


Schedule “A”


All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on Plan of Survey number E-9-57 prepared by Province of Nova Scotia, Department of Lands and Forests, Surveys Division, dated June 13, 1978 and being more particularly described as follows:


Lot A

Beginning at a point, said point being theoretical point “A” as shown on said plan, said point also being situate on the mean high watermark of – Cooks Cove Beach;


Thence (by astronomic bearings) S 49° 46' 52" E, 65' more or less to an iron post;


Thence continuing S 49° 46' 52" E, 142' more or less to a point on the mean high watermark of a pond, said point being theoretical point “B”;


Thence northeasterly along the mean high watermark of said pond to the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach;


Thence northwesterly along the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach to the point of beginning.


Lot B

Beginning at a point, said point being theoretical point “C” as shown on said plan, said point also being situate on the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach;


Thence (by astronomic hearings) S 15° 22' 52" W, 20' more or less to an iron post, said post being N 87° 52' 52" E, 927.13' from the iron post as described in Lot A;


Thence continuing S 15° 22' 52" W, 45.5' more or less to a point on the mean high watermark of a pond, said point being theoretical point “D”;


Thence westerly along the mean high watermark of said pond to the mean highwater mark of Cooks Cove Beach;


Thence easterly along the mean high watermark of Cooks Cove Beach to the point of beginning.
