Iona Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 89-1507 (December 29, 1989), N.S. Reg. 10/90


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 6th day of December, A.D., 1989, pursuant to subsection (1) of Section 5 of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, as amended, the Beaches Act, is pleased to determine as a beach, within the meaning of the Beaches Act, an area of land situate at Iona, in the County of Victoria, lying landward from the mean high watermark and immediately adjacent thereto, the said land being shown outlined in bold line on the copy of Provincial Crown Lands Record Centre Plan No. E-15-24 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both Schedules being attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All those two certain lots, pieces, or parcels of land situate, lying and being at Iona Beach, in the County of Victoria, Province of Nova Scotia shown as Parcel “A” and Parcel “B” on a Plan of Survey (Field Plot No. P-057/89) signed on the 5th day of April A.D., 1989, by Athol C. Grant, Nova Scotia Land Surveyor, revised on the 26th day of October A.D., 1989 (Field Plot No. P-057/89A), and filed in the Provincial Crown Lands Record Centre, Dartmouth, as Plan No. E-15-27, the said two parcels of land being more particularly described as follows:


Parcel “A”


Beginning at Survey Marker No. V2764 situate on the southern boundary of Crown Land Document Number 2345 and also situate (by grid azimuths referenced to the Nova Scotia 3º Modified Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone 4, Central Meridian 61° 30' West Longitude) 24º 49' 19", a distance of 6108.27 feet from Nova Scotia Coordinate Monument (N.S.C.M.) No. 15327 having coordinate values of 16 699 713.89 feet in northings and 14 937 838.18 feet in eastings;


Thence (from the place of beginning) 320° 09'49", a distance of 887.09 feet to Survey Marker No. V3452;


Thence 278° 16' 21", a distance of 135.00 feet to a point. Said point being on the mean high watermark of Plaister Pond;


Thence northwesterly along the mean high watermark of Plaister Pond 3110 feet more or less to a point;


Thence 29° 55' 14", a distance of 187 feet to Survey Marker V3451;


Thence 29° 55' 14", a distance of 25 feet more or less to the mean high watermark of Great Bras d’Or Lake;


Thence southeasterly along the mean high watermark of Great Bras d’Or Lake, 4440 feet more or less to a point. Said point being 144° 30' 42", a distance of 4263.02 feet from the last mentioned Survey Marker No. V3451;


Thence 235° 41' 50", a distance of 146.02 feet to a point;


Thence 322° 42' 24", a distance of 176.58 feet to Survey Marker V3453;


Thence 316° 25' 34", a distance of 552.50' to the place of beginning.


Above tract of land containing an area of 14.2 acres more or less.


Parcel “B”


A small island located within Plaister Pond having an area of 8600 square feet more or less.
