Fuel Safety (Installation) Permit and Registration

Who Needs This Permit and Registration?
Any company installing or modifying a propane gas, natural gas, digester gas or landfill gas installation. Please Note: As of December 31, 2002, domestic dwellings of 4 units or less are no longer exempt.

Application Forms & Process:
You can get an application from by:
  1. Downloading a form from our website; or
  2. Calling one of the phone numbers listed above.
Prior to beginning any work, an application is made by submitting a form for the proposed installation and the Permit and Registration fee to the Chief Inspector, Fuel Safety. If the total load is greater than 3 million BTUs per hour, the plan is reviewed for code compliance and the Permit is issued.
Waiting Period:
Expiry & Renewal:
This Permit and Registration is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. It is not renewable.
Price:
  • Cylinder Storage Cabinet only - $30.30
  • Total System Load is over 3,000,000 BTUs - Please refer to Fee Regulations Section 19 (8)
  • Total System Load less than or equal to 3,000,000 BTUs - $30.30
  • Alterations or modifications to a propane bulk plant - $60.65
  • Building a new propane bulk plant - $0.006/uswg of total storage
  • Installation or alterations to a natural gas vehicle refuelling station - $60.65
  • Installation or alteration of a propane dispenser having less than 5000 uswg aggregate capacity - $62.55
  • Installation or alteration of a propane dispenser having more than 5000 uswg aggregate capacity - contact Chief Inspector for fee
  • Installation or alteration to a digester gas or landfill gas facility - contact Chief Inspector for fee
