Knowledge Test Payment Service

Required Information

You can pay for a Registry of Motor Vehicles Knowledge Test (written  test) online using this service, with your Visa, Mastercard, American Express credit card or a debit card (Interac Online).

 

Enter your personal information, including your Master Number.  If you have held a Nova Scotia Driver's Licence or Nova Scotia Identification Card in the past,  then your Master Number can be found on the front of either document (see below).

 

 

 I you have never held a Nova Scotia Driver's Licence or Nova Scotia Identification Card, your Master Number is not required to obtain your knowledge test payment receipt online.  Choose the type of knowledge test you are paying for.

 

If you need to make changes to the entered information, you can tab or cursor to each field requiring change, or, before continuing, click on the "Reset" button to clear all the fields, and re-enter the information.

 

Click on the "Continue" button. The Verify and Confirm screen displays the information that you have just entered. Verify that this information is correct.

 

If it is not, click on the "Previous Screen" button to return to the Enter Personal information screen to make corrections.

 

Once you are satisfied with the information displayed on the Verify and Confirm screen, click on the "Continue" button. The next screen displays the Payment Information screen, including the Total Fee.  See Credit Card Information for payment submission assistance.

 

Types of Knowledge Tests

Class 1 - Semi/Tractor Trailer Licence:  Semi-trailer and tractor-trailer combinations, and all types of vehicles in Classes 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8 except school buses  (A Medical Examination Report form, filled out by a qualified physician is required before you write this Knowledge Test.)

 

Class 2 - Bus Licence:  Vehicles having a seating capacity of more than 24 passengers, and all types of vehicles in Classes 3, 4, 5 and 8 except school buses  (A Medical Examination Report form, filled out by a qualified physician is required before you write this Knowledge Test.)

 

Class 3 - Heavy Commercial Licence:  Any single vehicle over 14,000 kg (30,864 lbs G.V.W.), any combination of vehicles (other than semi-trailer or tractor-trailer combination over 14,000 kg G.V.W. where the towed vehicle in the combination does not exceed a G.V.W. of 4,500 kg or 10,000 lbs, and all types of vehicles in Classes 4, 5 and 8 except school buses  (A Medical Examination Report form, filled out by a qualified physician is required before you write this Knowledge Test.)

 

Class 4 - Public Passenger Licence:  Vehicles having a seating capacity of 10 and not more than 24 passengers and ambulances, all  types of vehicles in Classes 7 and 8 except school buses  (A Medical Examination Report form, filled out by a qualified physician is required before you write this Knowledge Test.)

 

Class 7 - Learner Licence:  Any single vehicles not exceeding 14,000 kg (30,864 lbs G.V.W. with parental approval, any combination of vehicles (other than semi-trailer or tractor-trailer combinations) not exceeding in combination a G.V.W. of 14,000 km 30,864 lbs G.V.W., and the twoed vehicles in that combination not exceeding a G.V.W. of 4,500 kg or 10,000 lbs, and all types of vehicles in Class 8

 

Class 8 - Farm Tractor Licence:  Farm tractors (from age 16 and also valid as a Class 7 Learner's Licence)

 

Air Brake Endorsement:  Vehicles equipped with air brakes

 

School Bus Endorsement:  School Buses (A Medical Examination Report form, filled out by a qualified physician is required before you write this Knowledge Test.)
