Need a Hearing Aid?

Any salesperson in Nova Scotia who test, fits or sells hearing aids and accessories, whether in a retail store or by mail or internet must hold a license.

This license requires that everyone who applies for a license either:

  • complete a six-month apprenticeship, write an international examination, and complete a live fitting examination; OR
  • Complete a master's degree in audiology and a Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA) Certification in Audiology

to qualify them as a hearing aid tester, fitter and salesperson.

Ask to see the salesperson's license when you are purchasing a hearing aid to make sure you are dealing with a qualified professional.

If you have any concerns about the service you have received, contact Service Nova Scotia & Municipal Relations.
