Shooting Range Approval

Who Needs This Approval?
  Anyone who wants to construct a shooting range for firearms.

Application Forms & Process:

The application process involves inspection of the range by a Firearms Officer.

If all requirements are met and the application is approved by the Provincial Firearms Office, the approval will be sent to the applicant by mail.

The site must be approved before the construction can begin.

Waiting Period:
  Approval is normally granted within completion of suitable construction and final inspection by staff of the Provincial Firearms Office.
Expiry & Renewal:
  This approval is valid for a given calendar year or for a period that is stated on the approval. It is renewable. The renewal process is started by the approval holder.
Price:
  No Fee
Related Requirements:
 
  1. Local residences in the area of the range should be consulted. 
  2. A survey report, location certificate or similar document showing the location and layout of the shooting range
  3. A copy of the safety rules
  4. Proof of $2,000,000.00 liability insurance
  5. Proof of compliance with zoning and bylaws
Additional Information:
  Applicants are advised not to purchase land for this purpose until the area is approved.
