Protected Beach Vehicle Permit
Who Needs This Permit?
Anyone who wants to operate any vehicle for any purpose on a protected beach in Nova Scotia (a beach designated as "protected" under the Beach Act).

Note:  This permit is usually restricted to commercial operations.

Application Forms & Process:
An application form can be obtained from the nearest Local or Area Office of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources. When completed, it is submitted to any of these offices.

If all requirements are met, and the application is approved, the permit can be collected at the counter or sent to the applicant by mail.

Waiting Period:
Normally same day.

Expiry & Renewal:
This permit is valid for the time specified on it. Once it expires, it is invalid, and one must get a new permit.

Additional Information:
  1. This permit is not necessary in times of emergency.

  2. It is not necessary for federal, provincial or municipal agencies or for utilities.

  3. The permit is needed for vehicle travel on all beaches designated under the Beaches Act, and it is usually restricted to commercial operations.
