As of July 1, the inspection, compliance and enforcement functions from several provincial government departments came together under the Environmental Health and Food Safety Division of Nova Scotia Environment.
This division is responsible for the majority of field operations relating to environmental protection and effective management of our natural resources. The division responds to requests for environmental assistance, approvals and investigations through its regional and district office network.
Industrial approvals granted by Nova Scotia Environment are now available online to make it easier for Nova Scotians to access the information and to do so at no cost. The database lists all current industrial approvals issued by the department. The documents outline the terms and conditions that companies are required to follow. A search can be done by company name, type of business or geographic area.
Industrial activities in Nova Scotia provide products and services such as electricity, building materials, and food. The province works to ensure that these activities do not adversely affect human health or the environment.
