Tufts Cove #5

Description

On April 6, 2004, Nova Scotia Power Inc. submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration Document for the proposed Tufts Cove #5 Combustion Turbine Project in Dartmouth.

Nova Scotia Power Inc. proposes to construct a 47MW gas-fired combustion turbine at the Tufts Cove Generating Station to meet future electricity needs of the province. The project is scheduled to start in spring 2004 with an in-service date of winter 2005.

Minister's Decision

On May 3, 2004, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:325k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking with conditions in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.

The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditionsPDF Download Link (PDF:44k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.

Public comments regarding this project were accepted from April 6, 2004 to May 3, 2004. Comments submitted on Registration Document are available at the Department of Environment and Climate Change Library.
