Porters Lake Wind Farm Project

Description

This is to advise that on December 4, 2014 Watts Wind Energy Inc. registered the Porters Lake Wind Farm Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to develop two 1.6 megawatt (MW) wind turbines, and to generate up to 3.2 MW of power on lands. The undertaking is located approximately two and a half kilometers southeast of Lake Echo and three kilometers southwest of Porters Lake, in Halifax Regional Municipality. The project is scheduled to commence early 2015 with operation expected late in 2015.

Minister's Decision

On January 30, 2015 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:28k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
